Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival has held a unique throne in the pantheon of festivals. A multi-genre beast with the soul of a much smaller festival, participants resemble the largest group of kind-hearted goofballs ready to rage well past 4AM. It’s had many leap years through its decade of existence, but Okeechobee 2026 marked a return to independence from Insomniac (the last one being thrown way back in 2023).

While it was obvious from some of the ancillary decorations and installations, Okee clearly invested everything they had into their stage production and sound, executing a world-class listening and laser experience. The silver lining? Numbers were slightly down from 2023, with the crowd being easily navigated, making for a rare festival experience. And while the music production and lineup were top-notch, it’s always the people who represent the vibration of a festival, and here, we find vibes on par with Electric Forest and Bonnaroo.

But this festival happens to be among palm trees, and for us Southerners, we’d say that’s the best.
