Beats On The Block: From Small Park Meetups to One of Atlanta’s Fastest Growing Dance Communities (Photo Gallery)
BY CAT MARTINEZ
What started as a few flow artists in the park and a small DJ setup with folding chairs has evolved into one of Atlanta’s most unique community-driven dance gatherings. Before Beats On The Block became a movement, it was simply people wanting a place to connect, dance, flow, and feel free together outdoors.
On April 25, 2026, thousands returned to Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark for Season 3 Episode 1: marking the beginning of a brand new chapter.

Before Beats On The Block
Long before large stage builds, sponsor banners, and packed crowds at Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark, Atlanta EDM had been organizing small community flow meetups throughout Atlanta parks for years. Hoopers, poi spinners, staff artists, glovers, dancers, and music lovers would gather simply to practice flow arts, meet new people, and enjoy music together outdoors. Around the same time, Connect Atlanta had begun building their own grassroots community events. Bringing decks, speakers, blankets, and friends into public spaces across the city. What started as a small circle around a DJ table slowly grew into something much bigger.
The Birth of Beats On The Beltline
On May 31, 2024, Connect Atlanta reached out to Atlanta EDM with an idea.
At the time, Atlanta EDM had already been planning a Summer Flow Jam meetup for June 8, focused on bringing together flow artists, dancers, and members of Atlanta’s EDM community. Connect Atlanta suggested combining both communities into one shared experience.
Instead of hosting two separate gatherings, the teams decided to merge the concepts together. Flow arts, DJs, dancing, community, and open-air culture all in one space.
On June 8, 2024, Beats On The Beltline Season 1 Episode 1 was born.
At the time, none of us realized how quickly it would grow.
From Meetup to Movement
As the event continued growing, the team made the decision in 2026 to evolve the brand into Beats On The Block, a new name representing the future of the community while preserving everything people loved about the original concept.
